Old Peoples Riding Club | A riding club for the over 21 equestrian and for all disciplines! " …for the learning experience, the fun, the camaraderie;
not the ribbon, or the glory, but for the memories ..."
I've been up on a horse's back since the age of 4, hooked! Though
I've done most every aspect of riding, the OPRC has been
one of the most rewarding. Not because I began the club, but
because of the wonderful people we've come across and
the varied opportunities it has opened up. A Wine Ride in Washington
State, now who would ever have thought of that?! Why, the OPRC
of course. And barrel racing in english saddles, I never realized
how much "dressage" those racers must have to be really good. Foxhunting
with a western member, with a recognized pack of hounds. I
told everyone to dress in their show best. I forgot about our
western member, she arrived in purple, from her head to her
toe, and the same for her horse. Fortunately, the Master welcomed
them. Now where in the world would you ever have imagined
that, in the OPRC of course! So here I am at the age of 60.
still riding, still enjoying and hoping that many will
join in and enjoy as much as I am.
Education is a wonderful thing, whether being applied to life in
general or to our 4 legged friends...the horse. Being an avid
foxchaser all of my life and showing horses too, I've become fairly
educated with the equine. As a challenge at a Hunter Pace, the
OPRC was begun. We have grown tremendously, both in members,
in applicable knowledge and for the betterment of our people friends
and our horses. Some of the finest people I have met I
met thru our OPRC. This brings to mind a verse from Walter
D. Wintle:
